Every music around the world has its own history, the instruments, rhythms, and even the compositions have their own origins. Music is a tool, it is used as a way of communicating with other individuals.

It is very powerful, considering it can express a person’s emotions or feelings such as grief, sadness, happiness, love, and even those emotions which cannot be explained or be expressed.
Jazz music is like a language. It is a language that musicians use to express their emotions in a concrete moment or the emotions that they are feeling while they are performing. It is unique and diverse in that the musicians improvise music in the spur of the moment, making Jazz music much more intriguing and different from other genres of music.
Hearing jazz music live in The Theatre at Papaya Playa Project every Thursday evening, just steps from the lapping shores of the Caribbean Sea, is the genre experienced in its most exotic, most exhilarating, and most real. Emotions brought forth through music.
And jazz is one step from the past, one step from the present, and one step from the future. Set in an incredible, architecturally impressive setting, one’s appreciation for the artform is amplified through the space’s audiovisual design and technological application.
Jazz music is full of expressions of love, desire, vivacity, hope, transcendence, triumph in abject circumstances, energy, joy, confidence, excitement — the stuff of life. Even more mellow, dark, sad, depressing expressions of jazz (especially bluesy styles of jazz) have a fascinating way of celebrating the darker side of life – it’s about relishing that being human is complex: sometimes we’re up, sometimes we’re down, and that’s OK.
More than that, being human is beautiful and worth exploring and celebrating. A notion that Papaya Playa Project takes to heart, providing an open space of connection in which to experience jazz together.
